Divorce is hard, no question. Even under the best of circumstances those times when when a marriage ends on friendly terms and everyone agrees on who gets the wedding china and who pays what in child support it’s still unbelievably hard. It hurts, and it feels like a failure to a lot of people; after all, none of us gets married without at least some hope that it will last forever.
But when there are children involved, you have to sort of swallow those feelings and focus on them because it’s no picnic for the kids either, and they don’t have the adult coping mechanisms that we’re supposed to have.
Yet when Billy Flynn, Boston father of two boys, was questioned (not for the first time, either) about why he’s nice to his ex-wife, he took to Facebook to lay down some real talk in a post that was later shared on the Love What Matters Facebook page.
His post reads as follows.
While many praised his reasoning, some (much like the folks in Flynn’s life who questioned his actions, I’m guessing) thought these kinds of gestures could be confusing to the boys.
