You’ve probably heard about the health benefits of drinking red wine (in moderation, that is not the way I drink it), but have you ever thought about soaking in it?
At Yunessun Spa Resort in Japan, where those geniuses have basically thought of everything, they know bathing in water is old news. Why would you slip into a regular old boring bubble bath when you could soak in a hot tub full of your favorite boozy beverage?
And an even better question would be, why stop with just wine?
According to the Yunessun Spa Resort site, swimming in a nice pool of red wine was a favorite skin treatment of Cleopatra.
I’m not sure exactly what the treatment is supposed to do, but who am I to argue with beauty tips from the inventor of the smoky eye?
Drinking directly from the pool isn’t recommended, they warn, though if they could see how scrunched up my face is right now at the thought of drinking somebody else’s grape-flavored body soup, they’d know that warning isn’t really necessary.
Luckily, if you’re thirsty for vino they’ll just pour you a glass.
No word on what vintage they’re serving, but any wine that hasn’t had a stranger’s body steeping in it is pretty much my favorite kind.
You can even take the party (ahem, I mean relaxation) outside!
At scheduled intervals the warm water pouring from that twelve-foot bottle is swapped out for the good stuff, which is exactly when you’d be able to find me underneath it refilling my glass.
But don’t stop there! If wine isn’t your style (or if you’d like to settle into something with a higher alcohol content), the spa also offers a sake soak.
Sake is reported to remove freckles and age spots, and with an alcohol content of about twenty percent it has the potential to remove your inhibitions and dignity as well.
That means that you should probably only consume it in small quantities, yet another good reason not to guzzle directly from the pool. The English translation of the description on their website says, “Although you can not drink because it is not a drinking fountain, the feeling when I soaked the other tipsy mood?” which pretty much proves my point right there.
Need to sober up? Try the coffee bath!
